Another generation waiting to see the world, and they're growing up in a flourishing Polynesian Community. A great blend of Samoans, Tongans, Hawaiians, Guamese, and Maori in Euless Bedford Texas, take to the Public Library after school classes to further computer skills, search games, social networks , and to do homework.
Something noticed is that they each have their own character and pride, and no matter the background of individual island nations they come from, they get along just fine.
What will they be when they grow up? What do Polynesian American parents in Euless Bedford Texas see their kids growing up to be ? One thing asked was were they going to do the Haka in Trinity High School when they grow up. All at once the answer was “Yes”, with some saying I can already do a Haka on my own. A demonstration was about to begin, but was cut short do to the asking of more picture taking.
Some of the kids are active in the church community so with after school activities at the Library and church on Sunday, along with class schedules, these kids already have some full weeks .
It would be great to learn some day that one became an Astronaut, or a Composer, maybe something in Radio, or Architecture. Who knows what they’ll be, but the future is open to them and they have already made a great start by choosing a place like the library to meet friends. Books and online resources are no stranger, and also when the educational courses start hitting into the nitty gritty, they’ll be at home in a place of study.
