Samoan leaders posing for pictures
The Matai Cut: This haircut is very clean and is the longest traditional haircut in the Samoan islands. The hairstyle is for the conservative, community leader, and an administer, and can be with or without a bold mustache. This haircut and mustache is found throughout Southeast Asia in Thailand to Indonesia to Japan. The cut is even on all sides, about an inch and a half. There is no fading, and its only shorter or trimmed around the ears and the back neck.
The Samoan Power Braids: This style is very popular with Samoans with long hair. The braids are made very thick and not tight in the middle sections. The thicker and fluffier the braid, the better. Young men love this style, usually from ages 17-33, unless the style is used for a Sport or entertainment purpose, then it maybe permanent, and is usually found worn by Samoans in the United States and Australia.

The Native Samoan braid: or the "Samoan Back Braid" is one pulled back braid, thick and long that extends to the end of the back shoulder blades, or middle back, but not usually further than that. The hairstyle has been popular off and on for quite some time and made famous with Polynesian Rugby Players and Samoan music groups. The photo above is of Onefour, a Samoan drill group leader.

The Big Show Style: The Big Show style is the "The Cannibal islander look", made famous first by the trailblazing Samoan wrestling tag team "Afa and Sika" [related to The Rock]. The tag tam was named "The Wild Samoans" who became wrestling legends and who later opened up a wrestling school in the United States. The tag team and 1980's hairstyle became so well known, that the hairstyle was mistaken for a traditional Samoan hair cut in the 1990s and early 2000s, but was created purely for entertainment stage purposes along with the beards. The Big Show style trend later hit American Football Sports and entertainment.
Rock-style Haircut: We named this one after "The Rock Dwayne Johnson" who has been titled one of the most handsome men in the World several times in popular Men's magazines. The bald-cut has been used in parts of Polynesia and is found carved on many old sacred Ancestral statues and Legendary figures. In Eastern and Southern Polynesia, the clean shaved Polynesian sits on many a door, guarding the family and the spirit.

The Demi-God cut: Samoans and Polynesians love to at times, grow their hair fully out if they can escape the Dad and Mom's scissors, and if they can escape the wrath of the church leaders. This hairstyle is found fashionably worn by Polynesians in various leads, popularity ranging from the shores of beautiful Hawaii, Aotearoa New Zealand, eastern Polynesia, to the United States, Australia, and was featured on the animated Demi-God Maui in the Disney movie "Moana". When the hair is long enough, many Polynesians in the past, including the men, created a top-bun (not a back-side bun).

The Polynesian Ru-hawk: The Pacific Mohawk is wide spread in the Southern Hemisphere Rugby world, as is it's cousin haircut "The Rugby Mullet". The Ru-hawk is short for Rugby Mohawk and has been mostly worn by the more dangerous heavy hitters or name takers in the game. If you're gonna sport this hair, it better be for a reason.
