Do I need Business Cards?

The Money-talk Blog

True story. I ran into a guy once who was interested in my work and business, and then I looked like an unorganized loon while looking for a pen and paper, to write down business information. Have something ready for when someone asks "what you do, what you're into", it could be just a drunken conversation at a bar, someone might be curious...Boom, then hand them a card. The card should have your name, type of business and name, website if any, and contact information.

How to choose a Small Business?

The Money-talk Blog

Look at your resources. Got land? grow something - Got a hot body? Be a model - Got physical abilities? join a sport - Got lots of things to say? Be a Writer - Got nothing? Get something.

Most people start a business based on their personal wants and needs, thats ok, do it, don't expect other people to see it in the same light you do, and don't expect to make a living off it, but who cares right? It's your business. Get it? Your business is your business. Ha.

Did anyone think Disney would own Star Wars some day and have a real castle in China? No, but it happened. The point is to contribute - later the point will be to actually make money - but at first the raw motivation to start a Small Business seems like an instinct that needs a scratch, so scratch it. Just start something, usually a person just wants to create a place where they can develop. Create your space, whatever that might be, refine it all as you go along. Be prepared to fail- adapt and start over.

Why should I start a Small Business?

The Money-talk Blog

What the hell kind of question is that? Why should you start a Small business? pick a reason - people have died for free-markets, it gives you a place to grow, a business gives a family independence. Just pick a reason and make a Small Business. I personally feel that in this day-and-age where Jobs come and go, a "Family owned Business", is required - keep your job ya sure - thrive at your job - but also keep a business of your own. You can work for a company - and then maybe your company wants to contract some work to another business, that contract might be for you and yours. Maybe you're so good at your job, you feel you can do better. So keep your job - grow until you feel it's time to cut the cord. At the very least own one Small Business, goodlord, if not five - own something.

Small Business - What is some basic advice?

 The Money-talk Blog

This may sound like something you read in a get rich quick book, inspirational advice, but don't give up so easily. Keep trying and build up slowly. In my time, I've seen small things grow into well performing small business that can create a happy living for a family. The first year to three years can be all about finding the routines that work, paper work, and setting up and for the next step.

Start small if this is something new and you have little experience in. Don't go investing thousands and thousands you can't afford into a business you may be good at, might be so-so ok at, but not the best at. Have a clean and professional setup and research what others are doing.

Be prepared for things to change
When I was young the local Mall was crowded every weekend, shopping at the Mall was apart of American culture, now, with the internet having such a big influence on shopping, and prices being over the top in retail, no one goes to the Mall like they used too. Many Department retail stores have closed and whole Malls have been shut down across the country. Almost everything now is shopped online and delivered. Overtime, with even things that seem impossible to die out, do die out.

Fashions change
Attitudes change.
Music changes.

Point is things change fast, business goes well, and then all of a sudden it doesn't. It's easy to start a business, it's hard to stay in business, especially in the USA. Finding the right type of small business that isn't effected by so many changes might be the best thing to do.

◘ Health Interests

#1 tip Trust in Medical help has lowered since year 2000, especially when it comes to Cancer Treatments. Promises unkept for cures and breakthroughs in new research never applied, or with poor results, for over 40 years has raised skepticism. Following the most advanced tech nations instead of relying on easy access convenient hospitalization has been recommended for those looking for better medical help.

#1 tipA Community report says to "Beware of TAP WATER" [Tap Water can be Dangerous]. Outside the island, there are industrialized cities with real toxic issues. On the surface the City may have great rides, food, highways, and parks, but have under it all "toxic or environmental health issues" due to old Landfills and Water Infrastructure being ignored. If an area has a waste smell, the ground nearby could be a covered over Landfill where a town has expanded, buried the old one, and moved to a new location. Buying clean bottled water is an important choice, and will save a person's health.
◘ Community Interests

#1 tipPacific Islander American Community report on "Banking Overdraft Schemes" which resequence transactions on lower income accounts to make the accounts overdraft. In the Banking Scheme, transactions are being posted in an order that benefits the banking fees, and costing the customer possibly hundreds of dollars. The Banking Overdraft Schemes have been reported to still be attempted. Keep your money in a trusted Bank. Do not just sign up to any bank.

#1 tip Check out your local Library for community events. Also a Library can subscribe to Polynesian Newspapers and Magazines so that you and your kids can read them. Organizing a way to have books and media content (movies and news) able for your community to check out is important. Organize your local Library on how to get things started. Classes in public school are also being asked by local community for more Pacific languages and culture to be taught.
