There is recently a new claim and interest into the Tibetan Mastiff with media covering that they are now "the most expensive breed of dog in the World". Prices on the full bloods have hit unbelievable ranges in China, hitting over the million dollar mark, and so now it seems Wikipedia have relabeled the animal "The Caucasian Dog".
The Asian Mastiff is a beautiful friend, a natural guardian for loved ones, a Shepard of sheep and any cattle, with the easy ability to fend off the wolves. The breed has made a name for itself, legends if you will, showing off strength, agility, size, intelligence, and beauty. An off-set of the breed, the "St. Bernard" has in the past been appointed a valuable rescue dog for its keen tracking abilities in the snow. The rescuing St. Bernard, famous in the north, carries on its neck a small barrel on the collar with hot whiskey or brandy when on the job.
According to a Wikipedia reader "A few warnings come with the new information on the Caucasian Mastiff wiki article, it's like they've created racism against a dog, giving the Caucasian and Western European off-sets a better profile than the original dog, and labeling the Tibetan Mastiff a primitive breed. The wiki-article also scrambles information and says that the Tibetan Mastiff name means -to be tied up-, an insult maybe, but more of a promotion for animal abuse"
The famous western pit-bull is a descendant of the Asian Mastiff and several mixed cousins of the breed came through Europe, one being the "bullmastiff", brought over from western Europe before the World Wars. The World Wars changed many interests and the attention to the American Rottweiler, American pit-bull, and American bullmastiff for awhile was lost and the breeds temporarily had a forgotten or less known Asiatic history.
