ANSWERS: The League of Nations was an illigitimate organization and the USA refused joining it's ranks in a 49 to 35 vote in the Senate even after the United States was offered a permanant seat on it's Council. The United States Congress too opposed and questioned motives and its founding. The League of Nations was short-lived, short-sighted, and provoked further War with Germany in its stances with no way to defend its own members having no unifying power behind it. The Mandates were simply words on paper and during the next World War, the League of Nations were proven powerless with the invasion of western Europe and the fall of both France and Britain. The USA joined the United Nations after it reformed from it's failed state as the League of Nations.
