ANSWER: The Polynesian Triangle was founded through Central Polynesia then to Eastern Polynesia, from Eastern Polynesia, settlements went further North and South. The Hawaiian Polynesians have their own unique identity, and have contributed greatly to Polynesian culture as a whole. Even though Samoa is considered a founder of Polynesia, cultural wise, Hawaii has more than done it's part in helping keep that culture alive and well. Hawaii is properly pronounced with a 'V' sound as Havaii, as in Savaii island of Western Samoa. The "S" sound is also exchanged in some Polynesian island languages with an "H" sound in many cases. Tonga still refers to Samoa as Hamoa.
